Welcome to the Seniors’ Section of BCLGA
A warm welcome to BCLGA Senior Golf from Jane Sly
As Seniors Team Captain for 2023 & 2024, I would love to see more ladies joining in the many events that we organise and encourage you to review the opportunities below before sending me an email to indicate your interest and availability. Please click on the button below to contact me.
Seniors matches are for ladies aged over 50 on the 1st of January. We have a number of league and friendly matches to suit people of different handicap categories as well as some competitions to enjoy.
The County Seniors’ Championship will be hosted by East Berkshire GC on Thursday 6th July. This is an 18 hole medal competition to determine our Seniors champion. There are scratch and net prizes and I’d love to see as many senior players there as possible to enjoy the day.
League matches feature a team of 7 players playing singles scratch matches against teams from Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire. Players tend to have single figure handicaps.
Friendly matches are normally 4BBB format with handicaps applied. They are played in a friendly and sociable manner with a meal afterwards which is a great way to get to meet women from other counties and play different courses for just the cost of the meal. Players in friendly matches tend to have handicaps of 15 and below. Anyone who is interested should let me know and I’ll try to give everyone at least 1 game. The fixtures are listed below versus Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex.
There is regional Senior Team Championship for the South known as the 10 Counties competition. A team of 4 will be selected to represent Berkshire – the winner is the team with the lowest combined medal scores (3 out of 4 to count).
Finally, there are a number of individual scratch senior competitions run by national golf associations such as England Golf and a Midlands South Regional Championships which will be hosted by Oxfordshire on 7th June 2023 at North Oxford Golf Club. This is an 18 hole medal competition which is open to players with WHI up to 19.4.
If you’d like to be considered to play for the county seniors’ teams please contact me via the contact form indicating your availability and WHI.
