This was the second training match of the year with the re-introduced scratch match against Reading Men. It took place last Sunday at Reading Golf Club.
Reading men couldn’t get a full team so only 4 matches were played, while 3 of us played 9 holes behind the main matches.
Many thanks to the team of Tracy Crew, Sheree Dove-Wilde, Maddy Pearce, Bella Kent, Emily Savage, Vicky Preitzel, Katherine Irving, Jane Brackenbury and to Clare Randall, Julie Butt for playing with me at the end.
We were lucky with the weather with only one rainstorm, and with the rest of the day dry, but a little windy. As with the Wellington match, we played 4BB format for the first nine, then went to playing foursomes on the back nine. All in a very friendly ‘Sunningdale’ format.
The matches were close on all but one, with some great foursomes play form Maddy and Bella who managed a 2 under in the match and a win. Sheree and Vicky had a good half in their match.
In the end, there was some great play in the other matches but not enough to overcome the men and we lost 1½ – 2½.
