Firstly, I would like to record my thanks to Temple Golf Club for enabling this match to take place at
their club. This happened due to the uncertainty surrounding Winter Hill Golf Club earlier in the
year. Thanks must also go to the ladies who were still available to play despite the change of date
and venue and especially the lady who was reserve who had less than a day’s notice that she was
playing. The Surrey Captain took the the changes in her stride and managed to find 14 ladies who
were available, so we played 7 pairs instead of the usual 8.
Each game was keenly contested and the length of the grass on the fairways and especially in the
rough made it challenging for most of us. After 6 results the match was all square with 3 games all,
so everything hung on the last match. Unfortunately, it was won on the 18th green by Surrey.
