On a day that was more reminiscent of a dank Sunday in October rather than one in flaming June, 14 of our Juniors signed up to play for the delayed Spring Cup at Mapledurham.
Having become accustomed to warm air and fast running fairways, to suddenly find sodden fairways and a damp heavy atmosphere one might have thought the players would have found the front-9 difficult. Not so! All but one scored better on that 9.
Interestingly, there were two count-backs, both going to the last 6 holes.
We are very grateful to Mapledurham for letting us play the course – and particular thanks go to Chris who was a star. Ann Smillie answered a cri de coeur on Saturday and came along to help – bringing Tilly who was very cute. Robert Yuile helped with our score entry and we hope we can look forward to welcoming him to more Junior competitions.
