Team selection was difficult – no clash with other events meaning lots of availability, but not much competitive golf played. In the end I went for low handicaps, and a mix of youth and experience.

Sally was our “Captain of Fun”, and she did not disappoint, although as she was often the target of the amusement so needs a special mention for being such a star !
Our new mascot, Bruce, enjoyed being outside – sometimes too much as he was often found wandering the fairways with Sally frantically searching for him.
Northampton Golf Club staff and members were fantastic, as were the event organisers, all of whom worked so hard to make this a successful, Covid Safe, competition.

V Northamptonshire – Lost 4-1
V Oxfordshire – Won 3.5-1.5
V Warwickshire – Halved 2.5-2.5
V Worchestershire & Herefordshire – Lost 3.5-1.5
V Buckinghamshire – Lost 5-0
Buckinghamshire came 1st having won all their matches, so they will represent Midland South in the County Finals to be played at Denham Golf Club, 17-19September. We wish them well, and as it is not far it would be a great opportunity to go and see some fine golf.
Berkshire came 5th overall, a somewhat disappointing final position, but it was a good 3 days with the results generally not reflecting the standard of play. We seemed to struggle more than most on the greens, which were quite undulating and slower than they looked. Something to consider moving forward?.
Thanks to all the Berkshire Clubs who sent us Good Luck wishes – sorry we did not do them justice.
