CAPTAIN’S LETTER – Updated February 2021
One month already gone, and we may not be feeling particularly jolly right now, but nevertheless, Happy New Year to you all! Thankfully we ARE blessed enough to still be here and looking forward to a vaccinated return to our golf sometime this summer.
If you are a new Lady Captain for this year, you should receive a welcome letter from me and an application form for membership. If somehow, we miss you, do please accept my apologies and get in touch with us, either directly to me or using the Contact Form on this page.
Apologies for the delay, but in the absence of any illumination from the Government about the future of golf and all things related in 2021, your Committee has decided to adopt a policy of ‘wait and see’ rather than putting out all the information based on the ‘best case scenario’.
Now that we are communicating by email and use of the website, we feel we are in a good position to respond to decisions Clubs may make about our fixtures, and we can quickly let our members know what’s what with the best up to date information.
We will also be sending application forms out (and posting them on the website) in an appropriate time-frame. We feel that this is more sensible than having to deal with the inevitable changes if we make them available too soon.
We really appreciate that many of you like to ‘get organised’ at the start of the year, but we hope you will understand our thinking and for now, settle for ‘saving the days’ for events you’re hoping to take part in. The match application form will be emailed out in mid-Feb.
In the meantime, we know how many of our ladies particularly look forward to our AGM, as it’s their chance to get together with old friends and really feel part of our Society. For this reason, as we know we sadly won’t be able to hold a ‘gathering’ of 105 with lunch and bridge, we have decided to mark it in a different way and kick off our year with something a bit special. Please look under ‘NEWS’ below, and all will be revealed.
I hope that you’re all staying safe and well and that you are feeling at least a little optimistic about the year ahead. And, although it may appear to you that nothing’s going on, I promise that I and your Committee are all beavering away in the background with one goal: that we will be meeting up with you somehow, sometime, some place…but definitely, THIS year!
With kindest regards,
Babs, Captain, BLCGS
Update: 20 Aoril.
All information relating to the matches and meetings will be relayed directly to our members by email. It is therefore imperative that you make sure we are aware of any changes to your contact details and that you keep an eye on your inbox ( and possibly junk mail, if you have failed to receive our updates so far this year).
We will also continue to post items on the website, but this is not quite so efficient for urgent matters.
