23rd May 2021 at Muswell Hill Golf Club
The first match since 2019 for Berkshire finally took place amongst heavy May showers at Muswell Hill GC on 23rd May 2021. It was, however, worth the wait and the journey, as the team of Katherine Irving (CR), Jane Sly (MR), Maddy Pearce (R), Vicky Prietzel (CP), Emily Savage (G&S), Becky Webb (EB), Donna Hunt (EB), Debbie Ranwell (CP), Sheree Dove-Wilde (MR) and Laura Webb (EB) took the spoils with a 3½ to 1½ win.
After a splendid Brunch, the foursomes pairings took to the rather wet at times fairways.
Katherine and Jane did not seem to mind the weather and raced to an early lead before finishing with a convincing 5&4 win. Maddy and Vicky also enjoyed a solid performance with a 4&3 win. Emily and Becky held on for a 2up win thanks to some lengthy putts. Donna and Debbie unfortunately came up against a young pairing who overpowered them to a 5&4 loss, and Sheree and Laura enjoyed a very close match which ended in honourable half.
An excellent start to the season, with everyone enjoying the chance to play a competitive match again. It was nice to see those Berkshire smiles again – although not many from Sally Collier (2nd Team Captain) as she left her phone at home so had to borrow mine to take some snaps of the day !
Finally, many thanks to Middlesex and Muswell Hill for their hospitality, we look forward to hosting them next year in Berkshire.
