The BCLGA Girls Autumn Cup was held on Sunday 25 September at Royal Ascot Golf Club with 10 competitors.

The competition was held on a lovely early autumn afternoon with the sun shining but also with a cooling breeze. The course was in great condition and we were very thankful to Royal Ascot for giving us courtesy of the course.

Airlie Dyson, BCLGA President, started the girls off and made sure they were all aware that no lost balls could be retrieved from the ‘Thistle Carry’ 3rd hole, so as not to disturb the great created newts that live in the normally wet habitat, which sadly was as dry as a bone when we passed over the wooden boardwalk.

8 of the girls came in with scores within just 5 points of each other, with the 2 remaining girls slightly out in front.

Amrit Hira’s birdies on the 1st, 6th and 15th holes plus 5 gross pars helped her to a winning score of 37 points, just pipping Bethia Melville who came in second with 36 points with a very steady round. Third place went to Isla Price on 34 points who valiantly made gross pars on the last 3 holes to add to the 5 already made.

We had one girl playing her first BCLGA competition, so welcome to Lucy Watts-Maingre and we look forward to seeing you in future competitions and matches.
