BCLGA County Competitions

We have Individual, Partner, and Team Competitions with a variety of formats. Some are for specific handicap ranges (e.g. + to 20, 21 to 28, 29 to 45) and others for the full handicap range of + to 45. The competitions and their handicap ranges are listed below.

From 2021 most entries will be via online forms and payment. There will remain a few forms that will be via manual forms.  

Entry cost generally includes a reduced Green Fee for 18 holes of golf and may include tea/coffee on arrival, a light lunch on a rolling basis after play.  (36 holes for The Tegner) Please let us know of any special dietary requirement with your entry. A change of clothes after play is usually optional. All competitions are followed by a prize giving when all players are in.

Juniors are very welcome to enter our Competitions and usually get a significant discount.

All are welcome to look in at the host club over the weekend of the County Championships to watch the best 16 players in the County battle it out on the Saturday morning, the quarter-finals in the afternoon, the Semi-Finals on the Sunday morning and The Final that afternoon which is followed by the Presentation.

Clubs may enter a team for the Inter Club Shield, Duncan Trophy, and Angela Uzielli.

We are very grateful to all the Clubs who host our competitions.

Spring Competitions

Division 1 Spring Meeting

18 Hole Medal competition for competition Handicap Index + to 20.0

Division 2 Spring Meeting

18 Hole Medal competition for Handicap Index 20.1 to 28.0
Qualifier for the Ann Bryant Cup (best 16 gross scores qualify).

Division 3 Spring Meeting

18 Hole Stableford competition for Handicap Index 28.1 to 45.0

Tegner Trophy and Tournament Cup

36 Hole Medal competition for  Handicap Index 16.0 and below. Qualifier for The County Championship (best 16 gross score qualify).

The Championship

Singles matchplay with no handicap allowance.
The 16 lowest gross scores returned in The Tegner Trophy automatically qualify for this competition. First qualifier plays 16th qualifier, second qualifier plays 15th qualifier etc.

Matchplay Knock Out Competitions

Ann Bryant Cup
Knockout competition played off scratch by the ladies with the best 16 gross scores in the 2nd Division Spring meeting.
Winter Knock Out
Handicap Index (+ to 36.0) singles matchplay competition played through the winter months.

Inter Club Competitions

Duncan Trophy
Inter Club knockout competition open to all BCLGA affiliated clubs for teams of 5 players in handicap index range 10.0 to 25.0
Inter Club Shield
All BCLGA affiliated clubs may enter a team for this Competition. Teams comprise THREE players, each playing one round of STABLEFORD on current handicap, partnered by her opposite numbers in two of the other teams. The team with the highest aggregate of the TWO BEST SCORES from the three cards returned are the winners of The Shield. Handicap Index range + to 30.0
Angela Uzielli Memorial Trophy

The final is a Stableford Foursomes competition. The best score wins the ‘Angela Uzielli Trophy’ (kindly presented by David and Hannah Hubbard).

Each BCLA affiliated club is invited to nominate one Ladies’ Stableford or strokeplay competition as their qualifier for this trophy, the qualifying competition taking place before the end of August. The two players having the best scores in the handicap index ranges 20.1–36.0 (Bronze) and from + to 20.0 (Silver) go forward to represent their Club in the Final.
